The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to read: SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT GRANT. (a) In fiscal year 2007, as a component of public school funding under AS 14.17, a district is eligible to receive a school improvement grant in the amount of the district's ADM for fiscal year 2007 multiplied by $81. (b) For purposes of the reduction required under AS 14.17.400(b), funding authorized under (a) of this section is treated the same as the state share of public school funding under AS 47.17.410. (c) In this section, "ADM" and "district," have the meanings given in AS 14.17.990. * Sec. 8. AS 14.17.460(a), as amended by sec. 5 of this Act, takes effect July 1, 2007." The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to read: CONTINGENT EFFECT. (a) Sections 1 - 3 of this Act take effect only if, at the Second Regular Session or at a Special Session, the Twenty-Fourth Alaska Legislature passes a bill appropriating an amount equal to or more than the amount needed to fund 20 projects approved by the Department of Education and Early Development as the first priority under the school construction grant fund under 2006-05-03 House Journal Page 3552 AS 14.11.008 - 14.11.011, and that bill is enacted into law not later than October 1, 2006. (b) The commissioner of education and early development shall notify the revisor of statutes if the contingency described in (a) of this section is satisfied."
